Bio
Lindsey Barrus is a cybersecurity and intelligence professional with more than 21 years of experience securing high-stakes systems and leading technical teams. Before the private sector, he served in the U.S. Army as a Technical Director and Intelligence Advisor within classified Special Mission Units — managing mission-critical operations at the highest levels of approval, overseeing more than $100M in specialized assets, and earning three Bronze Stars. That foundation in encryption, vulnerability assessment, and classified communications is what he now brings to financial technology.
He has been active in digital-asset and Forex markets since the inception of cryptocurrency in 2010, pairing a trader’s read of financial markets with a deep technical understanding of blockchain. That combination led him to co-found AstraBit with Nicholas Bentivoglio, where he has pioneered advanced security tooling for the platform and the institutions it serves.
His expertise spans governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) frameworks, vulnerability management, encryption, and AI/ML-driven security strategy — the kind of operational security that has made him a trusted advisor across both the public and private sectors. He has also served as an Associate Director at Two Six Technologies, leading national-level cybersecurity initiatives including 5G security exploitation and strategic cyber operations against adversarial threats.
As Co-Founder, Chief Operations Officer, and Chief Security Officer at AstraBit, Lindsey is a licensed General Securities Principal responsible for the firm’s operational and security backbone. He continues to work at the intersection of technology, security, and financial innovation — building the controls that let serious traders operate with confidence.
Role & Responsibilities
Operational & security oversight
Supervises the firm’s operational and security infrastructure to maintain full compliance with FINRA, SEC, and CFTC requirements.
Principal-level supervision
As a licensed General Securities Principal, holds principal authority over customer onboarding, KYC/AML verification, strategist and issuer vetting, and private-placement processes.
Trade lifecycle
Oversees the lifecycle of customer trades executed through AstraBit’s systems, from onboarding through execution and settlement.
Information security
Maintains robust information security, integrating vendors such as SumSub and Lacework and implementing controls that protect customer data and assets.
