Let It Run.

What Is a Kraken Trading Bot?
A Kraken trading bot is software that places and manages spot margin trades on Kraken automatically, following rules you define — instead of you entering every order by hand.
With AstraBit, the bot runs through an API key you create on Kraken. Your funds stay in your Kraken account at all times; AstraBit only sends trade instructions — withdrawal, deposit, and account admin permissions stay disabled on the key. Monitor positions, orders, and P&L from the AstraBit dashboard.
Three Ways to Trade Kraken with AstraBit
One API connection. Three ways to use it — pick the workflow that fits how you trade.
Marketplace Strategies
Browse the AstraBit Strategy Marketplace and subscribe to a published rule set. Once linked to your Kraken connection, the strategy’s signals execute on your account automatically — no coding required.
Manual Trading Dashboard
Set up a personal bot and enter or exit Kraken positions directly from the AstraBit trading dashboard. Manage Kraken alongside your other connected exchange accounts — charts, orders, and P&L in one place.
Bring Your Own Strategy
Already have a system? Connect a custom strategy coded in any language, or send signals straight from TradingView via webhook. AstraBit handles execution on Kraken.
How to Connect Kraken to AstraBit
Kraken is a centralized exchange, so setup is quick — generate your unique identifier, create an API key, and add them to AstraBit. Five steps, start to finish.
-
Create or Log In to Your Kraken Account
Sign in at kraken.com and make sure you’re eligible for Kraken Spot Margin Trading. For certain U.S. clients, Kraken may require self-certification as an Eligible Contract Participant (ECP) before margin trading becomes available.
-
Generate a BTC Deposit Address
Go to Funding, select Bitcoin (BTC), and click Generate New Address. Copy it — Kraken doesn’t always provide a standard identifier for third-party integrations, so AstraBit may use this deposit address as your unique account identifier.
-
Create Your API Key
Open Security → API Settings and click Generate New Key. Give it a name (e.g., AstraBit) and turn the WebSocket Interface on.
-
Set the Right Permissions
Enable Query Funds, Query Open & Closed Orders, Create / Modify Orders, and Cancel Orders. Leave Withdraw Funds, Deposit, and Account Admin disabled — AstraBit never needs them. Generate the key, then copy your API Key and Private (Secret) Key and store them securely.
-
Connect in AstraBit & Create Your Bot
In the Nexus dashboard, choose Connect Exchange → Kraken, enter an API name, paste your API Key and Secret Key, add your BTC deposit address as the unique identifier if requested, and connect. Then create your trading bot and link it to a strategy.
Before You Connect
- Eligible for Kraken Spot Margin Trading — certain U.S. clients may need ECP self-certification
- At least $50–$100+ in your Kraken margin wallet
- A BTC deposit address generated, to use as your unique identifier
- API permissions: query + trading only — withdrawals, deposits, and account admin stay off

Every step above is documented in detail — API creation, permissions, security verification, and connecting to Nexus.

Automation doesn’t change the fundamentals. Here’s what to understand about Kraken and AstraBit’s integration before you start.
Spot Margin — Not Perpetuals
AstraBit’s Kraken integration connects to Kraken Spot Margin Trading rather than perpetual futures. You’ll need margin eligibility on Kraken and funds in your Kraken margin wallet.
Leverage Cuts Both Ways
Margin trades are leveraged. Trading on margin — automated or not — involves a significant risk of loss and may not be suitable for all investors. A bot follows rules; it does not guarantee outcomes.
U.S. Clients: ECP May Apply
For certain U.S. users, Kraken may require self-certification as an Eligible Contract Participant — a U.S. regulatory classification, generally based on financial thresholds like net worth or institutional status, that gates access to certain leveraged products. Eligibility is determined by Kraken and applicable regulations. Read our plain-English explainer: what is an ECP?
Kraken Is a Centralized Exchange
Kraken custodies the assets in your account and requires identity verification — a different model from on-chain venues where you hold your own keys. New to the distinction? Read our guide to centralized vs. decentralized exchanges.
Run Kraken on Your Terms
A few things that make automating your Kraken margin account on AstraBit straightforward.
Your Keys, Your Funds
AstraBit connects through an API key with trading permissions only. Withdraw, deposit, and account-admin permissions stay disabled — your assets never leave your Kraken account, and AstraBit can never move them.
One Dashboard, Every Exchange
Manage Kraken alongside your other connected accounts from a single AstraBit dashboard — charts, open orders, and P&L in one place, instead of jumping between exchange tabs.
No Monthly Subscription
Bots are billed by the day in AstraBit Credits, and only after a bot places its first trade — so an idle bot costs nothing. See the tier rates below for exact daily costs.
U.S. Registered Broker-Dealer
AstraBit operates as CPT Capital, LLC — a U.S. broker-dealer registered with the SEC and a FINRA member (CRD# 331540). Verify anytime on FINRA BrokerCheck.

Ready to Automate Your Kraken Trading?
Open your account at no cost, connect Kraken via API, and put your rules to work — from the marketplace, the dashboard, or your own code.
Trading digital assets on margin is highly speculative, involves a significant risk of loss, and may not be suitable for all investors. AstraBit does not provide investment advice or trading signals, and automation does not assure profits or protect against losses.
Kraken Trading Bot Questions
What is a Kraken trading bot?
A Kraken trading bot is software that places and manages spot margin trades on Kraken automatically, based on rules you define. On AstraBit, the bot connects to your Kraken account through an API key you create — it can follow a marketplace strategy, execute your manual orders from the AstraBit dashboard, or run a strategy you’ve built yourself.
Does AstraBit hold my Kraken funds?
No. Your funds stay in your Kraken account at all times. AstraBit connects through API permissions that allow trade execution only — withdrawal, deposit, and account admin permissions are never enabled on the key.
Does AstraBit support Kraken futures or spot-only trading?
AstraBit’s Kraken integration connects to Kraken Spot Margin Trading — not perpetual futures. You’ll need to be eligible for margin trading on Kraken; for certain U.S. clients, that may include self-certifying as an Eligible Contract Participant (ECP).
How does AstraBit connect to Kraken?
Through an API key. On Kraken, open Security → API Settings, generate a key with query and trading permissions (WebSocket Interface on), then paste the API Key and Secret Key — plus a BTC deposit address as your unique identifier, if requested — into AstraBit’s Nexus dashboard. The step-by-step guide covers the full setup with screenshots.
How much does a Kraken trading bot cost on AstraBit?
There’s no upfront cost to open an account. Bots are paid for with AstraBit Credits (1 credit = $1 USD) at a daily rate, and billing only begins after your bot executes its first trade. Daily rates run from 0.33 credits for a Basic bot to 0.66 for Standard and 1.33 for Advanced (roughly $10–$40 per month), with a Nexus tier (1.99) in development. Depending on current program terms, eligible trading activity on affiliated exchanges may earn credits that could offset some or all of your costs.
Can I use my own strategy or TradingView alerts?
Yes. You can connect a custom strategy coded in any language, or send signals from TradingView to AstraBit via webhook. AstraBit receives the signal and executes on your connected Kraken account. See how to connect a custom strategy.
What do I need before connecting Kraken to AstraBit?
Eligibility for Kraken Spot Margin Trading (certain U.S. clients may need to self-certify as an Eligible Contract Participant), a minimum balance of roughly $50–$100+ in your Kraken margin wallet, and a BTC deposit address to use as your unique identifier. These are needed for the API connection to detect your balance and execute trades properly.
What is an Eligible Contract Participant (ECP)?
An Eligible Contract Participant is a regulatory classification under U.S. law that determines whether an individual or entity qualifies to participate in certain derivatives or leveraged trading activities. Qualification is generally based on financial thresholds such as net worth, assets under management, or institutional status. For certain U.S. users, Kraken may require ECP self-certification before margin trading becomes available — eligibility rules are determined by Kraken and applicable regulations, and may change. Read AstraBit’s ECP explainer for more.
Is AstraBit a regulated company?
Yes. AstraBit operates as CPT Capital, LLC, a U.S. broker-dealer registered with the SEC and a member of FINRA (CRD# 331540). You can verify our registration at FINRA BrokerCheck. Note: not all AstraBit services are broker-dealer services regulated by the SEC or FINRA.
